Sunday Run March 15 - 9am Downtown Waterfront

This Sunday's run will be along the Downtown Waterfront through Myrtle Edwards Park. Out and back will be between 7-8 miles.

We'll meet at the Waterfront Park on Alaskan Way and run North through Myrtle Edwards park and turning around at Dravus St. in the Magnolia area.

Thursday Training Session March 12 - 6pm SPU Track

As usual, Thursday's training session will take place at the Seattle Pacific University (SPU) track. Here is the MAP and meet on the track at 6:00 pm.

Stephanie Gundel leads this workout beginning with warm up; 1/4 mile walk, 1/4 mile run followed by calisthenics and drills. 

The workout is 'Quarters & Calisthenics

  • 400 meters (one loop) at moderate intensity  
  • 10 Push ups
  • 10 Steam Engines (our version of the pilates bicycle)  
Repeat 10 times, or for 40 minutes  (whichever comes sooner)

A challenging and self paced workout combining strength, speed and endurance. Although the distance is 2.5 miles - Think of an effort similar to running a 10 k.m. Bring your game face. 

Cool down & stretch Finished before 7.

Sunday Run March 8 - 9am Lake Union Loop

For this Sunday's run we'll meet at Gasworks parking lot (MAP) at 9:00am and go counter clockwise around the lake for a total of 6.5 miles. 

A map of the route can be found here.

The reason for the counter clockwise is that we've noticed it's easier to follow. Going clockwise makes it possible/easy to miss the bridge and this way you just turn left every time you can and don't forget to cross the bridge!
 
Rain/showers are anticipated for Sunday so remember to dress accordingly.

Sunday Run March 1 - 9:00am Seward Park Loop

This Sunday's run will be around the Seward Park Loop for a total of 5 miles and Christi Masi will be leading this run.

Please meet in the parking lot along Lake Washington Blvd S (see map – red dots mark the start/end point) at 9:00am.  We will warm up, do some stretching, then continue the loop/5k route through Seward park, and then back to the starting point.  It is mainly flat with one longish hill (walking allowed J).

Thursday Training Session February 26 - 6pm SPU Track

This Thursday's training session will take place at the Seattle Pacific University (SPU) track. Here is the MAP and meet on the track at 6:00pm.

This weeks track workout will focus on running form followed by six short runs, a descending ladder of 2 X 800 yards, 4 X 400, 2 X 200 and one 400 yard hill run. As always everything is challenge-by-choice, see you there.

Sunday Run February 22 - 9:00 am Gasworks Park

This Sunday's run will begin at Gasworks Park. We will run along the Burke Gilman trail to the UW and back for a total of 4 miles. Here is the MAP to the Gasworks Parking lot where we'll meet and here is the map of our ROUTE.

This Thursday's training session will take place at the Seattle Pacific University (SPU) track. Here is the MAP and let's meet on the track at 6:00pm.

This week John will lead the group in warm up drills and then focus on good running form and pacing.

Sunday Run January 18 - 9:00 am Greenlake

This Sunday's preconditioning run takes place at Greenlake. We'll meet next to the Masey Crew house and public restrooms. Click for MAP & Directions

This is the first preconditioning run and the whole session will last for 1 hour. 

The purpose of this training is to ease into the beginning of half marathon training. We'll do a 15 minute warm up including some technique drills before setting out on a loop of greenlake for an individual paced 2.8 mile run or run/walk. Intervals with walk breaks are encouraged and the emphasis of this run is to ease the body back into training after the holidays. 

John Colver will lead the session and he can be contacted by cellphone at 206 356 0348. For anyone who wants the group will drop by a local coffee shop afterwards to discuss any running & training questions.
